About…

I
create encaustic "cakes", greeting cards, custom announcements and invitations, illustrations and children's books with an emphasis on eco-friendly.

My work has been described as modern, whimsically organic, and humanistic. I use birds as my primary representative because, for me, they conjure up a sense of peace and joy.   My hope is to create art that creates space and instills a sense of calm in a world of contrast.

State of the Art:

"Cakes" are encaustic assemblages of paper, ink, and a beeswax/damarresin adhered to a 2" wooden cradle, ready to be hung. Each piece is handmade with care, resulting in subtle surface variations that are unique to the process of encaustic.

Cakes. I call them cakes because of their delicate icing-like finish but also because of the many layered steps that go into each handmade piece.
