"Cakes" are encaustic assemblages of paper, ink, and a beeswax/damar resin adhered to a 2" wooden cradle, ready to be hung. Each piece is handmade with care, resulting in subtle surface variations that are unique to the process of encaustic.

Cakes. I call them cakes because of their delicate icing-like finish but also because of the many layered steps that go into each handmade piece.
